CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A vehicle fire sparked a very small brush fire in the Cajon Pass Sunday afternoon into the evening.
California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino National Forest firefighters were getting calls of a vehicle on fire on northbound Interstate 15 in the right shoulder about 2 miles before the Oak Hill Road exit. The car fire was reported about 4:57pm Sunday July 24, 2022, with flames coming from the engine compartment.
California Highway Patrol and firefighters were on the scene to work on getting the vehicle fire put out. They had to temporary shut down the #4 and the #5 lanes. The vehicle was reported to be a blue Toyota Prius. The driver was able to escape the vehicle before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported at the scene. The cause of the vehicle fire is unknown at this time.
The flames also spread to a nearby brush and was contained to about a 50×10 foot spot burned.
