AZUSA, CA. (Pain In The Pass)>> Firefighters are battling a brush fire in the Angeles National Forest Monday afternoon. High desert residences may see and smell smoke this evening.

The Gulch Fire is two separate fires that was first spotted around 11:26am Monday August 29, 2022 burning off of Highway 39 San Gabriel Canyon Road next to the Morris Reservoir.

The one fire is 3 acres burned with the forward progress stopped. The second fire is 100 acres with no containment.

The winds were gusting at about 5 to 10 mph in heavy brush fanning the flames. Multiple helicopters and airtankers were called to the scene to do drops to help stop the fire.

No Structures were threatened during the fire fight. Both fires remain under investigation by fire investigators.
