VICTORVILLE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Two men were killed, one was seriously injured early Monday morning when a pickup truck apparently crashed into the rear of a big rig. Another big rig hit the pickup truck leaving the truck not able to be recognized on southbound Interstate 15 in the Victorville/Hesperia area.

California Highway Patrol and Victorville Fire Department received calls of a collision on southbound I-15 about one mile after Bear Valley Road exit. The crash happened about 4:56am Monday on September 12, 2022. This prompted the freeway closed for several hours.

The vehicles involved in the crash were a red semi tractor trailer with major front end damage, a white Chevrolet cargo van, a white semi set of doubles dry bulk powder tanker trailer and an unknown pickup truck, this was stated on the CHP traffic log. On arrival, firefighters located the pickup truck with major damage, in the middle lane. The light blue semi set of doubles dry bulk powder tanker trailer had major rear end damage.

Firefighters rendered aid to the people involved in the crash and reported two male adults deceased at the scene. They also requested one medical helicopter to transport one male adult victim, all three were in the pickup truck. Mercy Air #24 landed at the scene and flew the victim to Antelope Valley Medical Center in unknown condition.

All the drivers of both semis and the driver of the cargo van weren’t injured in the collision.

CHP closed southbound lanes for several hours, after 10:30am they reopened the traffic lanes. Traffic was backed up for miles, all the way at Stoddard Wells Rd at one point.

This crash followed an earlier accident in the morning on southbound I-15 near Ranchero Rd exit that lead to the traffic backup that probably lead to the fatal collision.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Victorville Office.

“Please keep the families in your prayers.”
