SAN BERNARDINO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A suspected DUI driver is in custody following a two-car crash on northbound Interstate 215 in San Bernardino Sunday morning.
The crash happened around 2:13am on Sunday, January 22, 2023. California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino Fire Department received calls of a collision on northbound I-215 before 5th Street exit. CHP officer said a male driver of a black Dodge Challenger, struck a white Mercedes-Benz GLA type SUV with two female occupants inside.
The impact sent the Mercedes to overturn on its side with major damage. One of the two females was able to get out of the vehicle, the other female was trapped and needed to be extricated. The other vehicle was a Dodge that had major damage all around the vehicle, with three tires and rims completely ripped off the vehicle.
Rescue crews requested at least two ambulances to the scene. The two females were transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital with unknown injuries. The male driver involved had only minor injures. He was arrested at the scene for suspicion of DUI.
