FONTANA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >>The Plasencia family lost three family members who died in a wrong-way crash on the 210 Freeway in Fontana last Saturday have made a GoFundMe page.
Officials with the California Highway Patrol said the department began receiving calls about a wrong-way driver going westbound on the eastbound side of the 210 freeway around 6:28am Saturday January 14, 2023. Then minutes later they received calls the wrong way driver was passing the 15 freeway going about 100 mph and they were notified of the crash.
The wrong way driver Jason Towand Jones, age 23, a resident of Fontana was first spotted at Carnelian Street. He drove in and out of the HOV and the #1 lane for about 6 miles going the wrong way. Jason was driving his green 2012 Ford Fusion sedan when he crashed into a sliver 2001 Lexus RX series SUV. The SUV was driven by Jose Pollo Plasencia, age 43, a resident of Highland, with passengers Angelica Plasencia age 42 (wife), Mia 16 Years Old (daughter), Bianca 5 Years Old (daughter), and Ivan 3 Years Old (son) inside. The collision happened near the Citrus Avenue exit, according to the CHP.
The driver of the wrong-way Ford, a 23-year-old man from Fontana, was pronounced dead at the scene. Also killed were the driver of the Lexus, Jose Pollo Plasencia, a 43-year-old man from Highland, as well as Mia a 16-year-old female passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ivan the 3-years-old male who died five days later.

Update from the family on condition of the two who survived the crash. Passenger/wife Angelica, has gone on to her third surgery and is going to be fine but will need time to heal from her injuries. Bianca 5-year-old daughter suffered a broken leg and she is expected to make a full recovery.
