CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A deadly crash in the Cajon Pass had closed down the freeway while officials investigate what happened. (Photo above is credit by Mark Zen)
The crash happened at about 5:26am Friday May 5, 2023. The location of the rollover crash was on northbound Interstate 15 about two miles before the Cleghorn Road exit. California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino Fire Department responded to the rollover crash involving a white unknown sedan on its roof blocking the #3 lane.
CHP said the driver was ejected from the car after rolling over several times. The driver landed in the fast lane and was reportedly hit by multiple vehicles in the #1 and #2 lane.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP had traffic temporarily shut down for about an hour for the fatal rollover investigation. They opened all the lanes by 9am. Traffic was backed up all the way to Glen Helen Parkway.
We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Inland Office.
