STATELINE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A fatal two vehicle crash occurred Friday between two passenger cars on Interstate 15 just before Yates Well Road in San Bernardino County.
California Highway Patrol with firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire Department and Clark County Fire Department responded to the crash scene. The crash scene was on Interstate 15 about one mile before Yates Well Road exit. From what the CHP traffic log stated, no one was getting out of either of the two vehicles.
According to California Highway Patrol Traffic Log, Friday about 4:18pm May 19, 2023, on northbound I-15 there was a crash between a 2015 Toyota Camry passenger car and another unknown passenger car.
Firefighters rendered aid to all the people involved in both vehicles and reported a total of three people were deceased at the scene.
One vehicle reported to be a gray car rolled onto its side on the right-hand shoulder. While the other car, a white car ended up in the middle of the traffic lanes upon impact. There was debris scattered all over the three traffic lanes with a engine out of one of the cars laying on the ground.
CHP issued a SIG Alert for four hours for the clean-up and for the investigation. Only the center divider was open. By 6pm the two left lanes were reopened and all lanes were reopened by 6:49pm.
The preliminary investigation revealed that this may have been a head-on collision. A witness stated the saw a big dust cloud coming from the center median then the collision.
CHP has not released a cause of the crash and did not identify the victims at this time. No further details have been provided at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Barstow Office. Please check for updates on this incident.
The weather conditions were partly cloudy, and the road was dry at the time of the crash. There was bad weather earlier in this area in the afternoon.
