ADELANTO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A monsoon like storms moving through the high desert region caused flash flooding, road closures, and traffic delays. Some parts of Highway 395 are now reopen with flood water receding. (Photo above is credit by Adele McClain)
First report of the thunderstorm was before 5:45pm. Hwy 395 roadway suffered debris flow with rocks during the flash flooding. Some parts of the highway was submerged in spots with over a inch of water. The storm cell was stationary for over a hour over Hwy 395 between El Mirage and the Adelanto area Saturday evening.
Hwy 395 in both directions was experiencing flooding and standing water between Desert Flower Road and Shadow Mountain Rd, according to Caltrans. California Highway Patrol and Caltrans issue a road closure for the area until the morning.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department had responded to a water rescue in flood water off of Hwy 395 and near Bartlett Avenue about 6:51pm.
A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for much of the high desert region on Saturday by Southern California Weather Force.
During flash flooding the Pain In The Pass said, to avoid driving into standing water. Standing water can cause a car to stall, or trap you in your car.
There have been reported that over two + inches of rain in this storm cell.
