HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> An overturned big rig carrying a full load of tortillas across northbound Interstate 15 caused heavy traffic in the Hesperia/Oak Hills area Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. (Photo above is credit by Erick Gonzalez.)

The crash was reported at about 5:16am June 3, 2023 on northbound Interstate 15 just after Highway 395 exit. The semi tractor-trailer full of carts of tortillas spilled all over the freeway and was blocking all traffic lanes for hours.

The preliminary investigation showed the semi driver entered the new lane reconfiguration construction zone and failed to turn. The semi tractor trailer crashed into multiple k-rails in the construction zone, this caused the semi to overturned on its side.

The driver of the semi was uninjured in the collision.

At 8:21am CHP open one lane. Cleanup and the removal of the semi tractor trailer and lanes were reopen at 12:15pm. Traffic was backup at one point all the way down to Kenwood Avenue about a 16 mile backup.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact CHP Victorville Office at (760) 241-1186.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Victorville Office. (creaturefacts.com)
