CHP and firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to crash. The collision was reported at about 12:18am, Sunday May 28, 2023. The crash was located on northbound Interstate 215 between Inland Center Drive and Mill Street exits blocking middle lanes. The vehicles reported to be involved were a gray/silver Honda Odyssey mini van and a black Kia Soul.

The driver of the Honda Odyssey a 29-year-old woman from San Bernardino lost control this is still under investigation. She hit the center divider. As a result of the crash, the Honda became disabled in the #2 lane facing northbound direction.

A 46-year-old Victorville man, traveling on I-215 northbound, saw the Honda at the last moment and attempted to avoid a crash, but his vehicle collided into the rear of the Honda.

As a result of the second collision, Josvelyn Renteria, an passenger in the Honda sustained fatal injuries on scene and was pronounced deceased.
