CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Two people killed in a three-vehicle fatal crash in the Cajon Pass Monday morning, according to California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at about 3:49am Monday June 26, 2023. The location of the collision was on northbound Interstate 15 about a mile after the Kenwood Avenue exit. California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino Fire Department responded to the collision with one vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

The vehicles involved in the collision were a white Toyota Highlander with front-end damage, a possible white Nissan Versa with major rear-end that caught fire, and a black Buick Verano with major front-end damage stated on the CHP traffic log.

CHP’s preliminary collision report said less than a minute after the first crash of the Toyota and the Nissan which happened in a dark area of I-15. The Buick hit the Nissan in the rear-end causing it to burst into flames, leaving two people dead at the scene, firefighters official said. The Buick probably couldn’t see the Nissan as it was dark and stopped in the lanes.

One person was reportedly transported to the hospital with minor to major injuries with a shoulder injury.

Their identity will be withheld pending next of kin notification.
