FONTANA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Traffic is flowing again on Interstate 15 after a semi tractor caught fire in the northbound lanes Thursday afternoon. (Photo above is credit by Scott DeVol)
The fire was reported around 3:40pm Thursday August 24, 2023. California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department firefighters were getting calls of a green semi tractor on fire. The vehicle was located about a half mile before the Glen Helen Parkway exit in the right shoulder.
California Highway Patrol and firefighters were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down the slow lane while they worked on getting the semi fire put out.
Traffic backup quickly and firefighters had the fire out in about 15 minutes. Everybody did escape the semi before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported at the scene.
The official cause of the vehicle fire is unknown at this time. Flames did start from the engine compartment.
