PRIMM, NV. (Pain In The Pass) >> Interstate 15 was closed in both directions near the Nevada-California border Saturday evening because of heavy flooding from summer monsoon storms.

The full closure started shortly before 5:30pm on Saturday September 2, 2023 by the Nevada State Police and the California Highway Patrol.

At least one video posted to social media showed drivers parked on northbound I-15.

The northbound I-15 side closure lasted about two hours before NSP opened lanes around 8pm. Southbound I-15 traffic was forced to exit at Goodsprings Road as of 12:45am Sunday morning.

It appeared the southbound lanes were opened shortly after 1am Sunday morning after being closed for over 7 hours.

In the hour before the freeway closure 1.41 inches of rain fell in Primm, according to localconditions.com Also, the storm intensifies by dropping over 3+ inches near Jean, NV. in two hours Saturday late afternoon/evening.

According to radar, the more intense cells dissipated around 6:30pm with lighter rain was falling along the desert.

National Weather Service office in Las Vegas are saying it the two of the wettest days in Las Vegas weather history. Also they said, its the 11th wettest monsoon season on record (we still have 28 days to go). Sunday afternoon is a good chance to add more to the rain bucket.
