CHP and firefighters from Apple Valley Fire Department responded to the traffic accident. The accident happen Monday morning, September 25, 2023, at 3:41am about a mile before the Wild Wash Road exit.

Exactly what led up to the crash is unclear, it looks like the box truck lost control, hit the center divider and overturned into the two left lanes. As the truck cab was on all six tires the box was resting on its side.

The box truck was hauling furniture items and boxes of household goods were strewn along the freeway. It’s reported the goods in the box truck were from a military family, moving to their new home.

Traffic was backed up to Stoddard Wells Rd/Bell Mountain Rd.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Barstow Office.
