According to the California Highway Patrol the incident occurred at approximately 11:45am December 28, 2023, causing a large fire and prompting visibility issues on southbound side of the freeway. The motorhome fire was on southbound I-15 about a mile and a half from Cima Road.

CHP and firefighters were on the scene to work on getting the motorhome fire put out. They had to temporary shut down all southbound lane due to heavy smoke and flames blowing across the lanes. This caused traffic to backup quickly this Holiday Weekend. Traffic was backed up all the way to Nipton Road near Stateline.

The vehicle was reported to be a large motorhome pulling a car trailer. Everybody did escape the motorhome before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported at the scene. The cause of the vehicle fire is unknown at this time.
