Timing and Info on this Cold Dry Storm for Thursday Morning

CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> An very fast arctic front will sweep across Southern California late tonight into early Thursday morning. Various areas of the forecast area will see different weather impacts cities with strong gusty winds, chances of rain, and snow shower. Info from the Southern California Weather Force Weather Service.

This quick storm should be out by 7am.

Timing of the storm for the Inland Empire and the Cajon Pass. Rain showers could start around 2-5am with fog in the Cajon Pass. The Cajon Pass could get about a trace to ¼ of a inch of rain total. The IE could get about a trance of rain total. This storm may miss the IE Valley completely. High Wind Warning until Thursday afternoon. There is a chance of snow at the top of the Cajon Pass. Rain map below.

Timing of the storm for the High Desert. Light rain/snow showers may start around after 2am 5am. The desert cities could get about a trace to a ½ of inch of rain/snow total. Strong gusty winds at times 50+mph. Wind Advisory until Thursday afternoon. Wind gust below. Wind intensity level map below (8 is the strongest gust 80+ mph to a 1 is weak at 10 mph.)

Timing of the storm for the Mountain Pass/Stateline Primm NV. Light snow showers may start around after 2am into 6am. Mountain Pass/Stateline Primm NV could get about a trace to 1″+ of snow total. Strong gusty winds at times 50+mph for this area. Wind Advisory until Thursday afternoon. See map below.

Timing of the storm for Wrightwood Mountains. Snow showers may start around 2am -5am. Snow level will be down to 4,000 ft. Wrightwood could get a trace/dusting of snow total. Strong gusty winds at times 60+mph. Winter Weather Advisory has been issued at this time. HIGH WIND WARNING until Thursday afternoon. Snow map below. This storm may miss the Wrightwood completely still will have gusty winds. See maps below.

Please get prepared now if you travel the Cajon Pass on Interstate 15 or Mountain Pass near Stateline/Primm NV. make sure you have a full tank of gas if you become stranded on the freeway. Thursday morning will be the coldest part of the storm. Remember to SLOW DOWN in the rain or in the ice/snow. Remember you can not see black ice on the roadway.

CHP and Caltrans will try to keep the Cajon Pass lanes and the Mountain Pass lanes free of snow and ice, but if the weather turns bad under 32° they will close the freeway down.
