HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A vehicle rolled over in a crash on eastbound Highway 138 early Saturday, causing the vehicle to catch fire, according to San Bernardino County Fire Department. (Photo above is credit by Elizabeth Amador.)

The solo vehicle crash happened about 1:20am Saturday January 27, 2024. The collision location was on Hwy 138 near Little Horsethief Canyon Rd or about a mile away from Summit Valley Rd.

The driver was able to escape the vehicle possibly a pickup truck, before it caught fire, officials said. The vehicle landed about 100 feet away from the roadway.

Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and nearby brush and they remain on scene to control traffic while the vehicle was being towed out. The driver was not injured.

Then about 2:40am a driver veered towards the right shoulder of the roadway. Then hit the back of firetruck, which was there working the earlier rollover crash.

Last report we have the driver fled the scene. No firefighters were injured in this collision.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Victorville Office.
