VICTORVILLE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> An overturned semi carrying bags of Chemstar Type S Lime jammed the Monday morning commute, according to the California Highway Patrol. (Photo above is credit by Jordan Parisi.)
The crash was reported at about 8:26am March 25, 2024, on southbound Interstate 15 about a mile after the Bear Valley Road exit. The semi tractor-trailer was full of heavy bags of Type S Lime on pallets on an open trailer. Each bag of Lime is 50 pounds. This Lime is for building construction to lay brick, block and structural tile. Lime can also be mixed with Portland cement to make mortar mix.
For reasons still under investigation, the semi driver veered off the right shoulder of the freeway into the drainage ditch and overturned. No injuries were reported, however the semi cab and trailer sustained significant damage.
The slow lane was blocked for over 4 hours, as a Hazmat issue for the open bags of lime powder spilled on the roadway. Traffic was backed up for miles.
We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Victorville Office.
