The first collision occurred around 4:45am on Saturday March 30, 2024, on the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 about a mile before Bear Valley Road exit, in bad weather conditions at the time of the collision.
The two CHP officers were inside their vehicle parked in the slow lane and on the shoulder of the freeway, attending to a grey Honda Accord sedan that had spun out hit the concrete wall.
While waiting for the Honda to be towed away, a white Toyota Camry sedan rear-ended their patrol car.
Both officers involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and were transported by ground ambulances to a local hospital.
The driver of the Toyota, who crashed into the CHP vehicle, has since been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or other substances.
We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Victorville Office.
