CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A cold Alaskan winter storm will passed over Southern California, but some scattered showers and snow showers will continue to move from the north in the morning bring brief heavy downpours at times throughout the day. There is a chance for a isolated thunderstorm or two in the afternoon.

Timing of the storm for the Inland Empire and the Cajon Pass. Fog and Scattered rain shower could start around 8pm Thursday night – 2am Friday morning. Around 3am rain will start. There will be breaks of rain showers throughout the day Cajon Pass could get about ½ to 1+ inch of rain total. The IE could get about ¼ to ½+ inch of rain total. There is a chance of thunderstorms that will up the rain total. 

Timing of the storm for the High Desert. Light scattered rain showers could start Friday morning around 12am-3am. The desert cities could get about less than ¼ of inch or more like a trace of rain total. More rain closer to the Cajon Pass area mountains. There is a chance of thunderstorms. A Wind Advisory for the high desert Thursday and for Friday. Gusty winds at times 50-60 mph gust. The top of the Cajon Pass is just under 4,000 feet. The top could get a dusting to 2+ inches of snow total.

Timing of the storm for Wrightwood Mountains. Winter Storm Warning for the mountains area. Scattered snow showers should start Thursday night around 8pm-2am. Around 3am Friday light snow will fall. Snow level will be down to 5,000 feet then drop to 4,000 ft on Friday morning then could go down to 3,000 ft with a winter mix of rain/snow mix. Wrightwood could get 2 inches to 6+ inches of snow total. Gusty winds at times 50-60 mph gust.

If you travel the Cajon Pass make sure you have a full tank of gas if you become stranded on the freeway. Remember to SLOW DOWN in the rain or in the ice/snow.

CHP and Caltrans will try to keep the Cajon Pass lanes free of snow and ice, but if the weather turns bad they will close the freeway down. CHP also says make sure you have a full tank of gas if you are coming up or going down the Cajon Pass in bad weather.
