HESPERIA, CA (Pain In The Pass) >> San Bernardino County Fire Department will be conducting a training prescribed burn (control burn). This will be a live fire training burns scheduled for 9am to 3pm Monday morning around 8am April 29 – Thursday, May 2 each day, if weather permitted. Live Fire Training (control burn) will be location north of the west fork of the Mojave River and east of the California Aqueduct. This is a training exercise for the Interagency Dozer Academy. Smoke and flames will be visible throughout this exercise while firefighters remove fire prone grasses and brush at different locations each day.
Please don’t call 911 to report a brush fire if you see smoke or active flames in the Honda/Summit Valley area on these dates only. The fire location will be between Summit Valley Road and Highway 173/Arrowhead Lake Rd. in South Hesperia. North of Hwy 138 and South of Ranchero Road. (Map is below.)
Firefighter will be staged north of the west fork of the Mojave River and east of the California Aqueduct.
For public safety, and the safety of fire crews signs will be posted along roadways entering areas where burning is taking place, please drive with caution and obey all posted speed limits. Please stay away from the trails near the training grounds, County Fire respectfully asks that you depart the area each day.
Fire Personnel will remain onsite 24 hours a day for the duration of the academy to monitor fire activity.
