The fire broke out on Wednesday evening June 5, 2024, at approximately 5:20pm, along southbound I-15 near Halloran Summit Road exit in the Mountain Pass area.
The driver pulled to the right shoulder of I-15 and wasn’t able to extinguish the flames between the cab and the trailer. The truck cab caught fire before the flames spread to nearby brush with help by the wind.
Firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire and BLM were able to stop the fire at approximately four acres burned.
The semi was hauling 70,000 pounds of metal. No injuries have been reported.
