HESPERIA, Calif. (Pain In The Pass) >> On Monday late afternoon, a new spot fire erupted within the existing containment lines of the Hesperia Fire at burned last week.
Around 3:30pm on Monday June 24, 2024, new reports visible smoke in the area of Highway 173 and Los Flores Road area. Initial estimates indicate that this new spot fire covers an area of 3-5 acres and is located on an island well within the established containment lines of last weeks fire.
Fire crews did requested air attack to aid firefighters below with a few water drops to help slow the rate of spread. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Aviation 306 helicopter was able to do water drops.
The “Hesperia Fire”, which began on Saturday evening of June 16, 2024, Last major update the fire is 99% contained and has burned 1,078 acres.
While witnesses claim that illegal fireworks may have started the fire, the official cause is still under investigation.
Firefighters will be remain in the area for mop-up operations for about three to five hours and to make sure no hot spots flare up.
