According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department the Vista Fire incident were reported near the Mt Baldy Mountain Ridge about 9:45am on Sunday July 7, 2024.
At 11:30am the fire was at three acres with a slow rate of spread with access was difficult to fight the fire.
Update at 2pm the fire jumped to 50 acres and an a Evacuation Order for all trails above the Mt Baldy Resort Parking Lot. At this time no Warning to the town of Mt Baldy or Lytle Creek.
Update at 6pm the fire was at 94 acres with updating mapping.
Update at 9pm An evacuation order has been issued for the Mt. Baldy Ski Resort out of an abundance of caution. Portions of the Pacific Crest Trail are closed from the Lytle Creek area to Mt. Baldy, along with additional trails below Mt. Baldy.
No injuries had been reported and no structures were threatened this evening, said Eric Sherwin, a spokesperson for the fire department.
SBCFD dispatchers say they have received a high volume of calls about the smoke. The afternoon winds are bringing smoke to the area. With multiple small fires in Southern California, the Vista Fire is the one that is contributing to the smoky conditions.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
