CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> As the Labor Day holiday weekend approaches, travelers are expected to take to the roadways with lower gas prices. AAA representatives says. Expect more people to travel this Labor Day weekend than those who did in last year. Up 9% than last year.
People are expected to travel at least 50 miles or more from there home during this weekend. In Las Vegas you can expect traffic on Thursday and Friday afternoon. The travel sites are saying Las Vegas is the #1 destinations this Labor Day Weekend so this means heavy traffic on Interstate 15. Check the Pain In The Pass Facebook Group before you go, with up-to-date traffic conditions.
Expect traffic delays on Thursday and Friday afternoon/evening for northbound Interstate 15. Also on Sunday and Monday (the Holiday) afternoon/evening for southbound I-15. The hot spots will be in the Cajon Pass, Devore, Hesperia, Victorville, Barstow, Baker and Stateline areas. Try to travel during off peak hours (early morning or late at night). The worst time to travel is around 2pm to 7pm on these days.
There is No lane closures or roadwork on Interstate 15 over the Labor Day Holiday weekend, its starts Friday night though Tuesday morning.
If you plan to hit the road this Labor Day Weekend, below are some helpful tips:
- Travel in early morning hours if possible – try to leave before noon Thursday, Friday and Monday.
- Slow down it’s not a race.
- BRING WATER! Also bring snacks and necessary medication.
- Have a full tank of gas before you go.
- Make sure your car is in good running condition. Check all the fluids, tires and tire pressure.
- Bring a charged cell phone (with a car charger).
- Use the restroom before you get on the road – you don’t know where you may get stopped for long periods of time.
- Plan ahead and add extra time before you travel. Have a positive attitude relax and enjoy the ride!
