It wasn’t immediately determined what may have caused the incident on I-15 in Hesperia. The hit and run in collision happened about 12:45pm on Friday September 13. The driver of the white Ford Expedition was traveling at high speeds northbound I-15 just before the Ranchero Road exit. Were the female suspect made contact with another vehicle, it believes a red Ford Mustang in the #2 or in the fast lane.
The suspect continues on north I-15 and exit the Nisqualli/La Mesa Rd. exit then south on Highway 395. California Highway Patrol spotted the suspect vehicle around Hwy 395. CHP attempted to pull the vehicle over, she took off at a high-rate of speed, disregarding public safety on southbound Hwy 395, then on southbound I-15 at high speeds. She traveled down the Cajon Pass in and out of the two right lanes at speeds over 80 mph. She continues on southbound I-15 and exit onto westbound 91 freeway. From west 91 freeway she exits onto northbound I-5. She exits the 5 Freeway in Monterey Park onto side streets.
The Ford went airborne after hitting a series of dips in the street in a Monterey Park neighborhood. She exited the vehicle near Dozier Street and North McDonnell Avenue and ran, but a California Highway Patrol officer managed to tackle her a short distance away just before a K9 dog did.
Update the vehicle was reported to be a rental out of Ontario.
We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary hit-and-run crash report is available. Additional details were limited at the time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Victorville Office.
