HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A 44-year old male transient was arrested after police say he intentionally hit and killed a 35-year-old male pedestrian in Hesperia and drove away from the scene. (Photo above is credit by High Desert Incidents)
Deputies were called to Cataba Road near the intersection of Main Street in the City of Hesperia, for a vehicle versus pedestrian reported approximately 6:26am on Saturday, preliminary information indicates.
When deputies arrived, they located 35-year-old Ricky Kemp of Hesperia on the roadway and unresponsive. Kemp was pronounced deceased at the scene.
During the investigation, it was determined the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe intentionally struck Kemp with the vehicle. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail, responded to the location and assumed the investigation. The involved vehicle was abandoned by a nearby parking lot and the driver, 44-year-old John Wynn a transient was located inside a business.
Wynn was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for PC 187 – Murder. He is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on September 17, 2024.
Kemp’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs. He was described as a “loving father, son, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend.”
