The so-called Arlay Fire, which has burned about 15 acres, began burning sometime before 6pm near southbound Interstate 15 lanes and Baldy Mesa Road in the Cajon Pass.
The brush fire was burning at the top and the side of the mountain with a moderate rate of spread.
No structures were threatened, and no injuries were reported as a result of the fire, according to the fire department.
The southbound lanes remained opened at this time, with the flames slowly coming down the mountains.
Firefighters were still working in the area performing “mop-up” on the affected areas near the freeway and working on the west side, according to officials.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but they are reporting to be arson.
