HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A traffic stop and DUI arrest in Hesperia led law enforcement to discover about 44 pounds of methamphetamine inside the trunk of a car, authorities said.
The intoxicated driving arrest-turned drug bust took place overnight along Highway 395 near the 15 Freeway, the California Highway Patrol said Tuesday December 24, 2024.
It began when an officer noticed a car making an “unsafe turning movement,” on Highway 395 near Interstate 15 in the city of Hesperia, according to a CHP statement.
The officer determined the driver was intoxicated and placed him under arrest.
“During a vehicle inventory, (a sergeant) located approximately 44 pounds of methamphetamine in the trunk of the vehicle, worth over $154,000 in street value,” the statement said.
The CHP also issued a reminder not to get behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and urged the public to call 911 to report suspected intoxicated drivers.
