HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> San Bernardino County Public Works has started roadwork on one of the busiest streets in Hesperia at peak times. They have announced, asphalt work on Escondido Aveune in Hesperia.

The work is being done from Monday, February 24 through Thursday, March 13 from 7am to 4pm (weather permitting) with flagging and no road closures. The roadwork area in on Escondido Ave between Cedar Street and Mission St. They have said, expect a traffic delay at peak times do to nearby schools in the area. (see map below)

What type of roadwork they are doing.

Mastic Asphalt work is to fill in the large cracks. “Mastic cracks” in the road refers to large cracks in the asphalt pavement that are typically repaired using a specialized material called “mastic,” a hot-applied, polymer-modified asphalt mixture with aggregate, designed to fill wide cracks and distressed areas that are too big for traditional crack sealants but not large enough to require full repaving.

Grading the shoulder of a road, means using a grader to level and reshape the unpaved area alongside the paved roadway, ensuring it has the proper slope to direct water away from the pavement and into ditches, typically by creating a gradual downward slope from the edge of the pavement towards the roadside ditch.

We encourage you to allow additional time in your commute schedule for possible delays and to please drive with caution and reduce speeds through work zones.
