ONTARIO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The Interstate 15 Corridor Freight and extend the Express Lanes is a collaborative effort by the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) in coordination with the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) starting a new project.
The 8-mile project from Cantu-Galleano Ranch Road in Jurupa Valley to just north of Foothill Boulevard in Rancho Cucamonga will add express lanes in the median of Interstate 15 to join the existing express lanes in Riverside County and add auxiliary lanes to improve traffic operations and safety in the vicinity of the 15 Freeway, 60 Freeway and the 10 Freeway interchanges.
Crews continue to place k-rail (concrete barriers), re-stripe lanes and ramps, remove guardrails, and grind existing pavement throughout the project corridor. There may be nighttime lane closures on northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) I-15.
Crews are constructing retaining walls along the freeway shoulders between the I-15 and I-10 interchange and just north of Fourth Street. In April, sound wall preparations will begin between Foothill Boulevard and Baseline Avenue.

Beginning as early as Monday, March 31, crews will demolish portions of the outside freeway bridge deck between Foothill Boulevard and Baseline Avenue. Work will occur during weekday nighttime hours.
10pm to 6am** the following mornings.) Up to two lanes on Northbound and Southbound I-15 may be closed and local street closures on Etiwanda Avenue, Church Street, and Miller Street under I-15 will occur. Detour routes will be posted.
Your typical drive on the freeway, on- and off-ramps, and local streets may have changed with the start of construction. Please slow down, follow posted signs, and stay alert as you travel throughout the project corridor.
**Times can subject to change and could go longer or start earlier. On and off ramps may be subject to closure. Please use caution and remember to reduce your speed when approaching and driving through the construction zones. Schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or construction issues.
