HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A stretch of Highway 138 was closed after a SUV caught fire on Wednesday afternoon. (Photo above is credit by Abby Kristine.)

According to California Highway Patrol and fire crews responded to the scene of a vehicle fire on Highway 138 (Hesperia side) about 3 miles away from Interstate 15 at about 4:20pm April 9, 2025.

The vehicle reported was a white Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV on fire on the right shoulder of the highway. The flames did spread to nearby vegetation along the highway.

The vegetation fire burned approximately a 50 by 50-foot section of brush next to the freeway.

Everybody did escape the vehicle before it became fully engulfed.

No injuries have been reported at this time, and it is unclear how the fire started.

CHP says the lanes have reopened up to traffic just before 6pm.
