SAN BERNARDINO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The California Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly roadwork zone collision that occurred on southbound Interstate 215 in the city of north San Bernardino.
The crash was reported around 1:10pm on May 29, 2025, in the southbound lanes of I-215 about a mile after the Palm Avenue/Kendall Drive exit, according to the CHP traffic log.
A male rider was on a motorcycle and a driver of a dark gray Ford Escape SUV were headed south when both hit “congested traffic,” with the right lane closed by construction workers.
At this time, it’s unknown if the rider was traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into the SUV or did the driver of the SUV merge into his lane just before the work zone. The SUV and the motorcycle collided, which threw the rider from the motorcycle. Sadly the rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.
All southbound lanes were closed for the investigation and by 2pm one lane was reopened. All lane were reopened by 4:20pm.
We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Inland Office.
