MOUNTAIN PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Commuters experienced a huge traffic delay as fire crews dealt with a vehicle fire that spread into the vegetation Friday morning on southbound Interstate 15.
The fire was reported about 10:51am on June 13, 2025, as the burning pickup truck pulling a car box trailer, that pulled to the right side of southbound I-15 near the Bailey Road in Mountain Pass.
The driver stopped the pickup truck and exited safely from the truck, according to the CHP.
The San Bernardino County Fire responded, but by the time they arrived, the truck and trailer was fully engulfed, according to the report.
The fire spread to nearby vegetation, but fire crews were able to stop its progress before it reached out of control.
The two right lanes of southbound were closed for several hours while crews mopped up the fire, removed debris and towed the pickup truck and trailer away.
The cause of the fire was not reported.
