Caltrans Engineers Assessing Highway 247 Flood Damage

BARSTOW, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Heavy rain, flooding across a section of the Highway 247 with engineers expecting the road closed for at least two weeks or more with more rain next week.

The flooding happened Tuesday afternoon on Highway 247 between Barstow and Lucerne Valley the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) said on social media.

The assessment determined that several areas have experienced undermining, and the right shoulders will need to be reestablished for lateral support for the roadway.

As a result, Hwy 247 will remain closed from Northside Road to Veteran Homes Parkway until further notice.

More thunderstorms are in the forecast next week and can hamper the repairs to the roadway.
