CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A semi-truck driver was injured when his rig, which apparently lost its brakes off of southbound Interstate 15, crashed into Highway 138 guardrail.
The semi, driver experienced brake failure around 4:50am on November 5, 2025, while heading south on the 15 freeway down the Cajon Pass. The driver maneuvered down the Highway 138 offramp through the red light without striking other vehicles before intentionally hitting the guardrail and rolled over before hitting the Shell gas station.
The driver was reportedly trapped inside the cab of the semi. With help from Good Samaritans, they help the driver out before emergency crews arrived. San Bernardino County Fire did not confirm the extent of the driver’s injuries.
The highway was reduced to one lane and the eastbound Hwy 138 connector to southbound I-15 was closed for hours while crews cleared the wreckage and removed the spilled trailer product.
Caltrans crews were conduct guardrail repairs and still have a lane and ramp closure with no estimated time for reopening as of 3pm.
