HESPERIA, CA (Pain In The Pass) >> San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies crack down on speeding, drivers ignoring stop signs, and other traffic violations. They issued multiple citations in the residential areas around the Ranchero Road California Aqueduct bridge construction detour area.
On Monday, February 23, 2026, from 5am to 10am deputies held an operation on Farmington Street between Maple Street and 11th St. that is south of Ranchero Rd.
Hesperia resident is seeing an increase in drivers diverting through neighborhoods to avoid road closures are reminding drivers that residential streets are not designed for high-speed, cut-through traffic. That’s the purpose of this operation.
In many cases, drivers are speeding through residential streets in an effort to reach their destinations more quickly, creating safety concerns for residents, pedestrians, and students. We understand traffic can be frustrating, but speeding through neighborhoods puts lives at risk.
The speed limit is 25 mph on residential streets, unless otherwise posted.
Results of the 5-hour operation was 39 citations issued, 5 arrests, and 4 vehicles were towed.
The Sheriff’s Department reminded residents and motorists to prioritize safety on local roadways by following California Vehicle Code laws and practicing safe, responsible driving habits. Officials stated they will continue proactive enforcement and public education efforts to help keep communities safe.
