HESPERIA, CA. ( Pain In The Pass) >> Fire crews in San Bernardino County were responding to two different structure fires that started small brush fires in the county on Saturday.
The first call came in for a structure fire in the 30600 block of Sapphire Road in the town of Lucerne Valley Saturday morning at 10:53am July 18, 2026. With the moderate gusty winds, the flames made it to the nearby dry vegetation. Fire crews called for more resources like water dropping helicopters and airtankers to fight the flames. This incident called the Sapphire Fire.
Around 12:30pm the airtankers had a retardant line around most of the fire with structures threatening.
Fire crews were able to stop the forward rate of spread at 19 acres.
Another call came in around 1:34pm for another structure on fire, that sparked a small brush fire on the 15200 block of Well Fargo Street in Hesperia.
Fire crews called for more resources like multiple water dropping helicopters for structure protection.
With help of the afternoon gusty winds the brush behind the structure caught fire. This incident was called the Wells Fargo Fire. At 2pm forward rate of progress was stopped at about 2 acres burned.
Officials have not released additional details about what sparked the fires.
No injuries have been reported in both incidents.
