PHELAN, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A single-vehicle crash shut down a portion of Phelan Road Wednesday morning after a pick-up truck hit a power pole, which caused it to break and bring down power lines across the roadway.
California Highway Patrol said, crash happened around 1:41am September 2, 2026 by an iPhone alert, on Phelan Road at Sunny Vista Rd.
The white Toyota Tundra pickup truck was traveling on Phelan Rd when the driver swerved and lost control, crashing into a power pole. The impact broke the pole, leaving it wires lying across the roadway and shutting it down to all traffic.
When the first emergency unit arrived, the driver and two others did not appear to be injured.
CHP diverted traffic on both sides of the crash scene while Edison crews worked to clear the roadway and remove the vehicle.
Phelan Rd. was shut down for several hours while Edison made repairs. Roadway was reopened around 2:45pm.
We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Needles Office.
