CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Drivers up or down the Cajon Pass are facing significant delays on Interstate 15 Tuesday afternoon into the evening as pothole repairs and crashes snarled traffic in both directions.
Traffic began picking up around 12pm noon for northbound I-15 at the Kenwood Avenue exit, as California Highway Patrol and Caltrans running a major traffic brake for road repairs due to Saturday storm. Crews went all the way to the top of the Cajon Pass at Oak Hill Road. Northbound traffic break ended just after 2pm.
The biggest trouble spots are along southbound I-15, where lanes are blocked at the Oak Hill Road bridge for pothole repairs, where a new problem was affecting traffic after Ranchero Road exit with a multi-vehicle crash with injuries blocked the fast lane.
Drivers traveling through the Cajon Pass should expect slow-moving traffic and consider alternate routes if possible. Or just wait to drive up or down.
