VICTORVILLE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A brush fire burned Sunday in the mountains between the 15 Freeway and Helendale.
The blaze, dubbed the Powerline Fire, was reported at 11:03am October 4, 2026, off of Bell Mountain Road in Victorville, near an unincorporated community of Helendale.
The blaze was initially reported at 2-4 acres and was burning with a moderate rate of spread in light, flashy fuels, with no structures threatened moving west, according to San Bernardino County Fire Department.
Multiple agencies joined to help fight the blaze including, Victorville City Fire, CAL FIRE, and the Bureau of Land Management.
With help from at least two water dropping helicopters and multiple airplanes dropping retardant around the fire.
Crews were able to work on the fire, with the forward rate of spread stopped at 4:38pm, though personnel were expected to remain at the site into Sunday evening.
The fire burned 59.4 acres with no injuries were reported.
“Crews will be committed for approximately 4 hours, strengthening containment lines and performing mop-up and fire suppression operations,” according to the fire department.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
