VICTORVILLE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Southern California is being hit with some wild weather as an El Nino-fueled storm moves through SoCal on Thursday.
Video was sent to the Pain In The Pass from a motorist Jolina Renee in Victorville who spotted a swirling dust cloud tossing debris in the sky near Highway 395 and Dos Palmas Road around 12:30pm on October 22, 2026.
It’s not a tornado, a gustnado does not connect to any cloud-base rotation or a thunderstorm, a tornado does. A gustnado is a short-lived, surface-based whirlwind that forms along the leading edge of a thunderstorm’s outflow (the gust front), according to the Southern California Weather Force.
There were no reports of any injuries or major damage from the gustnado.
Much of the high desert remains under a wind advisory through Friday afternoon.
Another round of rain showers, followed by gusty winds, is expected to pass through the region on Friday.
