HESPERIA, CA, (Pain In The Pass) >> Firefighters are working to put out a fast-moving brush fire in Hesperia near Silverwood Lake late Monday afternoon.
The Hesperia Fire Incident was reported at about 4:44pm, on Monday, June 6, 2022, just south of Highway 173 near Silverwood Lake in the Los Flores Ranch area of Hesperia.
San Bernardino County Fire with help from CAL Fire firefighters were quickly on scene and calledfor more support.
The winds were gusting about 20 mph in heavy brush fanning the flames. Two helicopters and four airtankers were called to the scene to do some drops.
Structures were threatened and Highway 173 is closed at this time due to the fire jump the highway.
At 5:30pm one person was reported to have critical burns and was transported to a local hospital.
As of 6:20pm the fire has burned at approximately 50 acres in the Los Flores area. About one structures is threatened. No structures have been reported to be damage or destroyed.
At 7pm fire crews were able to stop the forward spread with help of the winds to die down and a aircraft line. Firefighters will remain in the area for mop-up operations though the night to make sure no hot spots flare up.
Update at 7:30pm the fire has burned at approximately 95 acres. Spot fires are popping up this evening with help of the winds. One out-building is destroyed.
8:30pm the fire is still at 95 acres and is 50% contained.
