Day 24 the Line Fire Flare Up Again and Forces New Evacuation Orders

HIGHLAND, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A flare up in the Line Fire, which has torched forty thousand plus acres of vegetation in the San Bernardino National Forest, has forced new evacuation orders after 24 days after the blaze was first ignited. (Photo above is credit by Martinez Rangel)

The new evacuation orders affect the Seven Oaks community, which is located south of Big Bear Lake, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Crews reported early Sunday afternoon that the heavy plume of smoke that began to show came as the flames moved into the Santa Ana River drainage and that the fire activity was “expected,” in a post on X formerly Twitter.

The fire started on Thursday evening on September 5, quickly growing to consume more than 40,200+ acres and destroying at least four structures as it continued to rage on its 24th day.

As of Sunday afternoon, firefighters said that the situation was 83% contained at 40,219 acres.

The new evacuation orders come just three days after all evacuation orders were finally lifted on Thursday.

An Evacuation Warning has been issued at 4:45pm Sunday for the community of Angelus Oaks (Zone ANG01). For exact parameters, see the San Bernardino County Evacuation Map.

Highway 38 is now being closed at Lake Williams to Seven Oaks with a Level 3 Mandatory Evacuation for the town of Seven Oaks to GO NOW.

Update at 8pm An Evacuation Warning has been issued for the Boulder Bay area of Big Bear from the dam east to Wildrose Lane (Zone BBC08). Those who require additional time to evacuate, and those with pets and livestock should leave now. see map below

At 11pm Sunday 9/29/24 the fire is 42,836 acres burned and 83% contained.

A Norco man was arrested days after the blaze began for alleged starting the fire, deputies said. He faces nine different charges, including counts related to millions of dollars’ worth of damages, and has since pleaded not guilty and is expected back in court at a later time.
