CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A ¼ acre brush fire was quickly contained by firefighters Sunday afternoon burning next to the 15 Freeway in the Cajon Pass.
The fire dubbed the Honeyhill Fire was reported at about 12:45pm August 3, 2025. The fire was located on the right shoulder of northbound Interstate 15 between Highway 138 and Oak Hill Road exits.
Firefighters were quickly on scene with help from the California Highway Patrol closing the #4 and the slow lane.
The fire had consumed about a quarter acre. At one point the fire could have potential for 10+ acres.
With help from the weather and the vegetation being low the rate od spread was slow.
At 1:14pm firefighters said, the forward progress has been stopped.
CHP said firefighters will be remain in the area for mop-up operations for serval hours and to make sure no hot spots flare up. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
