HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A driver managed to escape without being serious hurt after a solo vehicle crash off of Highway 395 onramp. The crash sparked a small brush fire then engulfed the vehicle Monday evening.
California Highway Patrol says the crash happened just shortly before 5pm. along northbound Interstate 15 connector ramp to Highway 395 on Monday August 18, 2025.
Exactly what led up to the crash is unclear, but the car ended up crashing into the guardrail, rolled completely down the embankment off the freeway and stop next to the chain-link fence next to Mariposa Road. The car then caught fire, but not before the driver was able to escape.
The flames did scorch some nearby vegetation, but fire crews were able to put out the fire quickly at ¼ acre burned.
The driver was transported by ground ambulance in unknown injuries. We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Inland Office.
