EASTVALE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Two suspected DUI drivers were arrested after a woman was killed and one person was injured in a five-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 Saturday morning.
The Riverside County coroner’s office has ID the driver killed in the crash as Cynthia Weymans, 70-year-old, from Yorba Linda.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the crash on northbound Interstate 15 just after the Limonite Avenue exit, around 3:40am on August 30, 2025.
Investigators said the chain of events began when a silver Chevrolet Cruze sedan rear-ended a white Mercedes small SUV, forcing the Mercedes into the concrete center divider wall. A green Jeep Wrangler then struck the driver’s side of the Mercedes, causing Weymans’ fatal injuries.
Meanwhile, the Cruze veered across traffic lanes toward the right shoulder, forcing a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck to brake heavily. A black Nissan Altima behind the Silverado was unable to stop in time and collided with the pickup truck, the CHP said.
The driver of the Cruze allegedly fled the scene but was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, hit-and-run and murder. The driver of the Jeep Wrangler was also arrested on suspicion of DUI.
CHP said details on the other drivers were not immediately available.
This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Riverside Office.
