CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain in The Pass) >> A car ignited a brush fire in the Cajon Pass off of Interstate 15 Wednesday afternoon.
Crews with the San Bernardino County Fire, CAL FIRE, and the US Forest Department responded to the blaze, named the Blue Fire, around 2:19pm on September 24, 2025.
Officials said the fire began as a black Cadillac CT5-V sedan fire on the northbound lanes of the 15 Freeway about two miles north of Kenwood Avenue exit.
It quickly engulfed 12 acres, racing uphill on the right side of the mountain.
At 3:15pm firefighters quickly halted the forward progress of the flames, according to the San Bernardino County firefighters.
It’s not yet clear what started the car fire or if any injuries were reported.
Officials said motorists should expect major delays in the area as crews work to knock down hot spots for at least three hours.
