LYTLE CREEK, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Fire crews on the San Bernardino National Forest are planning prescribed fire (under a controlled burn) operations in Lytle Creek this week.
Work is tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday April 27, 2026, until Wednesday as weather conditions allow. We use prescribed fires to help reduce overgrown vegetation to help protect local communities, infrastructure and natural resources from wildfires.

Work begins: April 27, 2026, weather dependent.
2-3 Days of Active Ignition.
7-10 days of Patrol and Mop Up.
Crews plan to treat up to 74 acres.
Resources will be on scene overnight to monitor the prescribed fire and be available for response.
These areas may be close to the public for several days for public safety. Watch for warning signs along roads near all prescribed fire areas before and during burns. Information signs will be posted along the roadways when burns occur to alert the public to the burning activity and subsequent visible smoke in the area.
The San Bernardino National Forest will post information on our X and Facebook accounts the day burns occur.
Residents may experience smoke during the prescribed burns. You may see smoke in the Cajon Pass I-15 freeway, Fontana, and in Wrightwood on Monday-Wednesday.
