MOUNTAIN PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The California Highway Patrol says speed and wet conditions caused the vehicle to hydroplane off of southbound Interstate 15 Sunday afternoon.
CHP and San Bernardino County Fire said the crash happened at 12:10pm by a Ford Crash Alert, on September 6, 2026, going southbound on I-15 about a mile and a half before Bailey Road exit.
The driver of the Ford vehicle lost control on a wet roadway, and swerved off the freeway in the center median. The vehicle rollover at least one time down the embankment and landed in a deep ravine.
Rescue called for at least two medical helicopters to landed at the scene or nearby the crash scene.
Fire crews established a landing zone for the two medical helicopters to land on the freeway.
Both occupants were flown to University Medical Center of Southern Nevada by Mercy Air 7 and Mercy Air 24. One person was transported by ground ambulance to the same hospital. The responding agencies did not release any information on what condition they are in.
